Brain storming brought lots of thoughts, but one seemed to stand out... It's the slow nature of time when we are in pain, challenge or crisis... Time, then, seems to slow down... and what could be slower than healing a wounded heart...
Healing takes time especially when the wound is in an aching heart.
I used a black fabric for the background, drew the heart on a paper and transferred it on the fabric using a white tracing paper. I used felt batting and free motion quilted the heart. A red applique fused to represent the wound was further accented with thread drawing. The word SLOW was finally free-motion stitched.
When I fused this a fabric with the journaling onto the back of the quilt, the black fabric of the background wrinkled giving this old crumbly look... it's not bad, I guess... it goes with the mood of a wounded heart.
